Flowing Space and Iron Velvet Art are pleased to announce the group exhibition Lost in Translation: A Diary Unwritten, a collaboration organized by Yuna Kim from The Flowing Space and Hyunbee Shin from Iron Velvet Art. The exhibition will be held at The Flowing Space, located at 16 Clinton Street, New York, NY, and will run from November 21 to December 11, 2024. Featuring works by eight New York-based artists—Hyoju Cheon, Clare Hu, Jeong Hur, Seoyoung Kim, Grace Qian, Basharat Ali Syed, Annu Yadav, and Seirim Yoon—the exhibition presents a vivid exploration of hyperrealism through paintings and sculptures that delve into the divide between imagination and reality.

Lost in Translation: A Diary Unwritten draws inspiration from the concept of a "diary" or "journal" as a vessel for memories, thoughts, and emotions. The exhibition examines how memories and past experiences are often imperfectly recalled, reinterpreted, or imagined differently from their original occurrence. These personal histories—filtered through the artists' perspectives and translated into their works—form the thematic foundation of the exhibition.

The participating artists each offer unique visual translations of their inner worlds, memories, and aspirations. Some pieces are rooted in specific past events or moments of personal significance, while others are inspired by abstract sensations or ideas. Through their diverse practices, the artists reveal how memory is remembered, reorganized, and reimagined. The title Diary Unwritten also suggests how the intangible—thoughts and emotions stored in the artists' minds—find expression in their works, creating a distinctive language of visual storytelling.

This exhibition invites viewers to reflect on the blurred boundaries between reality, imagination, and memory, exploring how each artist's narrative is shaped by the interplay of these elements.
